 Story

pic+de+bure.jpg

Luvie is the village of my ancestors. It is located in the French Alpes. The village has now disappeared, and only a few ruins remain. My great-great-grandfather Lazare Marcellin-Gros left those beautiful mountains in 1855 to work in the silk industry in Lyon where he became a dyer. Luvie is my tribute to him and to all the hard working heroes who have contributed to French “Savoir Faire”.

Today Luvie is a line that includes elegant and colorful printed leggings. They are made in a small series and entirely made in France. The fabric, printing, and labels are woven and printed in the region of Lyon. My project is part of an ethical and ecological approach with a very low carbon footprint, and my suppliers follow rigorous standards of sustainability. I wish to positively contribute to our economic and social fabric. Also to perpetuate a heritage, a know-how and excellence.

About

My name is Amandine and I am a French textile designer living and working in Paris. I studied Textile Design and Print at U.A.L. (University of Arts London) Camberwell.

Fifteen years as a textile designer for “The Collection”a prestigious London based studio allowed me to develop my creativity and expertise.

Luvie is the result of my experience and my desire to create my own universe of print, colors and embroidery.

I welcome inquiries for collaborations; please feel free to contact me here.

Inspirations

Purple Haze 1a.jpg

My work is influenced by the colors of Provence, And for their interpretations of those beautiful landscapes: the books of Jean Giono, and the work of Bonnard, Cézanne, and Van Gogh. Art Nouveau is also a source of inspiration.

Some of my prints are the transposition of my paintings, very colourful they look pretty unique. I have transposed some of my paintings to fabric prints to further express color and movement.
